No way, apples to oranges. I still go back at your Jeep and am amazed by the cleanliness and simplicity of it, both are things I am working on improving in my work. But thanks much for the kind words.

Since things are a little show right now I thought I would post an update. Much of what I am doing is building/finding parts so not much to show. Headers are built (but need some clean-up). I have also stated on the one aspect of the truck that is its most obvious: the top wing. I have started the back half of the wing (the moveable part) and will post pix asap. Does any one have experience with Alclad? I need to make the wing polished Aluminum and heard Alclad is a great option but never used it. Advice? Thanks, John

Thanks Willie. Tell me, why do people always seem to be having trouble with the stuff? Is it that it can only be used with an airbrush? Isn't there something about it being clear coated? Do they have some in a rattle can? Unfortunately this is the first time I have ever had the need for a "chrome" finish so I have never paid any attention to the discussions. John

John, the alcad stuff works good if you use just as Willie said. I have used it before as well and got pretty good results. In fact take a look at the grille on the Jeep I sent you. It was painted with Alcad. It is not perfect but is as close as you will get with paint. Have you thought about a large peice of bare metal foil on the tops of the wing? From the look of the wing it is pretty smooth and you don't have very many complex curves in there. You could paint the sides and bottom with the alcad, then cover the large top with the Bare metal foil. You could also just cover the whole thing in bare metal foil.
If I remember correctly, you do not need to cover the alcad in clear. If you do I think it makes the finish less chrome like. You can also get the alcad in a can online.

Hey John...I know you put some work into that wing (looks great BTW), but nothing looks more like aluminum than aluminum! ;D It would be easy to make, just have to be careful it doesn't slice you!

John, I mean thin aluminum sheet, like from a soda can or similar Fashion a whole new wing from it...I think I have some .010" or .020" here...any thicker would look out of scale. LMK if you want me to look in my stash ;D

First, I want to thank all ya'll for your support and help with this beast. It has been difficult lately seeing the forest for all the (building of) trees. Every now and then I will put the thing together to help envision the end product in an attempt to not get burned out. Here is a another photo with a few more body panels: I did some of the first parts painting last night, but ironically, the parts (the cloth headlight covers) are done in off white cloth. So on to something much more exciting and colorful: the decals. I have gotten a pretty good start on all the decals. Will probably go with #62, the winner of the '72 Baja 1000. A couple of the black shapes, the missing ones, are now found... only two or three left to find. Many more to find for #307, the Oly that rolled three separate times over the weekend and still finished first. This holiday weekend I will be doing some tests of the alclad/Bare Metal foil/Aluminum foil wing. Will post again soon. John
