Cage is (pretty much) done! Hurray! Looking forward to working on to something more than pipe. Now onto parts gathering. Been watching ebay for kits and old cars that have stuff I need (radiators, lights, steering, brakes, etc.). If anyone has suggestions for a stock car kit, I guess from the 60's, let me know. Thanks for watching (and the kind words). J

A little more progress... The floor and firewall is almost done. I will have to lower the motor mounts as the cam covers will hit if left as high as it is now. What is interesting is that I almost feel like I a building the real thing... finding problems that they found while building the real truck. For instance under the foot wells.... there was much more tube in the early photos that was gone in later photos, because they too could not get the headers to fit, so they removed it. I can see no way to get headers through there with all the pipe they originally had... super tight. Thanks for watching. John

Hey John,
It's kinda like that old Toyota slogan, jus' a bit different......
"Higher Technology, Smaller Scale"
Fantastic Job......I'm soooo Jealous ;-)
Errrr, Maybe it should be "Tighter Tech" LOL

Camera has been down so no new photos until now... Besides wheels/tires, third on the list for needing options is the seats. The factory seats were too, well, factory. The racing seats were always to modern. So, I took the same old monster truck seat and modified it to look more vintage. Removed the seatbelts and doubled the thickness of the padding: I am out of casting RTV right now but will hopefully be picking up more this weekend to make copies. John

A little more done... The tire carrier and jack holder (I believe). Nothing is glued down so everything is a little crooked: Now working on the interior while searching for parts (steering box, radiators, fuel fillers, etc). Thanks for watching, John

Thanks Jeff. I wonder where everyone are? Anyway, here is a new photo just to have another new one. Interior "door" panels and rear bulkhead (if that is what is called) are built. Now on to the dash And some other under-hood stuff. Since I can't find a steering box, I will be scratchbuilding it I guess. John

John, do you have a Revell CJ-7 kit lying around? The steering box in that kit looks pretty good, has u-joints & shaft already attached to it.
If you don't have one, I'll take a pic for you. I've got four parts kits here, I can send you one if you want...
Yeah, hopefully as the weather turns colder, we'll see more building!
Jeff

You know, I believe my son has a Jeep-something kit 1/2 built floating around. I will see what is in there. Thanks! It is not too complicated a shape, just a couple round bars, some strips and some tabs. I might just give it a try. Earlier, I would say "of course I will hand build it" but I want to be done with this by March and it is already November. Ouch!!! John

Thanks much Larry! Well, after a few hours and a pile of scrap styrene: Still needs some sanding. Should look a little better with paint. John
