What do you mean about a " White base coat " ? The sheets come in clear and in white ? Or are you talking about your truck body and clearing it with the Tamiya clear ?
I have cleared with it on enamel and I haven't had any problems , I just do very light coats , not do a full clear in one shot.
Also you will notice with the decal sheets they don't like to stick to the metal or rounded areas, so i like to ad a little glue to the spot I laying the stickers on so it sticks better.

Now that I've regained the use of my brain, I am enamored with your detailing and realism of the parts and pieces, fit and finish and weathering. I can only stand so many show-n-shine models and this truck in my mind is gorgeous!

Yes John you are one heck of a builder my friend. In fact I just noticed that you cut the inside of the door to resemble a door without door panels. Dang man, you are going all out on this one. Great work so far.....
Be on the lookout for a package too. I think you will like what I have enroute to you.
Amazing work and I can't wait to see the finished product.

Really guys, I was not expecting soooo much... I just wanted to post a few photos up to keep things from being so slow on my favorite website. Again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!One thing to update... the decals. I took db's advice and picked up some Tamiya clear for the second try on the decals. This time it worked great! No bleeding of the toner, either by clear coat or water. To recap... first try: Testors white ink jet paper with Krylon clear. Second try: Detail Master clear paper using a color laser printer. Unfortunately, I have not made time to tell what exactly makes it better: the Detail Master paper vs Testors, the Tamiya clear vs Krylon, color laser vs ink jet. I will run some tests soon. The Cons (the stuff I learned and will fix before running another set): 1. the toner is kinda thin and will probably look washed out on colored paint (not an issue on my build). Using white paper rather than clear would help that problem. 2. I was not paying attention with my original files and some of the blacks were not CMYK black but RGB black. This left some of the blacks with a very slight dot pattern rather than a rich, dark black. I am probably the only one that will noticed it. 3. the decal paper is very thin so very long ones can easily fold over on themselves possibly damaging them. The pros: 1. the decal paper is very thin so they contour to the body very well (Detail Master contoured better than Testors) 2. obviously, I can run out any decal I want at any time, day or night. 3. I figured out that if I squeezed them on a page I could get three trucks worth of decals on one 8.5 x 11 page. I included decals for my next two builds although mis-measured one set so it is too big: "measure twice, cut once". 4. at about $4 for the paper, $5 for the clear and $1 (guess) for the toner, the price is not too bad for a cheapskate like myself. Heck, maybe I will build a set of general off-road logos for others. I have a couple "pay it forwards" I need to get taken care of.

They turned out great from what I see. My problem is finding the masters to use , Like on Robby's stuff when I did his they had only a couple shots of his trucks on the net and pulling the masters off a picture was a pain. Any way you took your time on this build and you have done a outstanding job with this build. With seeing thsi truck in real life at the races I can say you nailed it.
Great build , great subject..... A ++

ODB (and others), if you need a logo let me know. I have been collecting the logos for a few years now (pulling them right out of the high rez ads the vendors supplied to the magazines). If you have specific requests, let me know and I will see if I have it.
I have found another great way to get really good clean logos... the newer versions of Adobe Illustrator will open pdfs allowing me to pull out the logos. If the pdf was built "right" then I can resize or recolor it per my needs. So, I go to the vendor's website and dig through their install sheets, tech diagrams, etc. and download the ones with logos.
The test is to find one with the logo and zoom in reeeeeealy close. If it is clean then that is great. If it is "jaggy" look for another (unless the logo is huge on the page). John p.s. if you find one of those pdfs, PM me to the web address and I will pull the logo out for you.
