Hoping to spark some good conversation here and maybe add to the list of build ideas. The topic...what are the top 3-5 builds that you most want to do from your to-do list? 1. A CJ7 with Willys converted nose with Trxus tires, and full coil suspension (much like the link below) hubgarage.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/138618/PI5Send3_detail.Jpg2. A 4 door 79 Ford F350 on the stock frame with stock wheelbase from the kit, scratchbuilt flat bed like seen on the Offroad Design Chevy trucks. Probably run either Boggers or Trxus. Definately leaf spring rear, probably coil front. Debating on painting it fresh from the shop, or as if it has been around for a while with a natural petina. 3. Willy's that has been stretched in the door and rear fender, possibly narrowed chassis tub, and maybe even dove tailed rear. Either SOA or quarter elliptical in the rear. Tires might either be the Aoshima Swampers or Boggers. 4. Either a CJ or YJ created to resemble many of the features on the Walker Evans new Jeep. Besides the body mods, I like the idea of a carbon fiber nose, fenders molded in the hood, and the aluminum body. If you have not seen this one yet, it is a must see: www.4wdandsportutility.com/features/jeep/0912_4wd_1974_jeep_cj5/index.htmlHow about your build ideas?

Neat idea for a thread! I'll jump in... 1. a later F-150 converted to a Trophy Truck. 2. a BFG pits diorama complete with gas cans, stacked tires, people, 18-wheeler, etc. 3. a Good Humor Ice Cream Truck (yes, I know) 4. the Early Bronco that I co-drove at Baja in 2007 (BC Broncos) www.bcbroncos.com/web-starting-line.jpg5. a Hummer crawler using oly the front grill I found in my son's toybox, nothing else. I like the Hummer idea, and have actually thought about the Good Humor truck as well. There is a 50ish Ford Good Humor ice cream truck that comes to our big car show every year. Very cool little truck.

Hmmm... 1. Resin Scrambler LOL 2. Replicate my 1974 J20 pickup I too forgot a J truck. Everyone loves a J truck. It is too bad these are so hard to find and/or expensive. It might be fun to do a Group Build here using them. John

Community Build Projects (CBPs) are definately a good way to get people to the work bench and to post pics of their progress and completed projects. This was something I started over at Fred's forum (short track race car modeling). We would run 1-2 CBPs a year, about a 4 month duration for each. We did one where it was a box stock build of a particular kit, did another that was out of the box, which meant you could modify anything in the kit the way you wanted with just the materials present in the kit. We have also done some open build topics based on era's or classes. A CBP might be good for this forum as it seems a little slow lately...which I can completely understand with work and family (I havent been truly in my shop since August).

My current build list is very long cause I get ideas while I'm at work. I would have to say my top 5 are...
1. Baja Bug 2. Sand Rail 3. Replica of how I want my 92 F-150 to look 4. Brad Lovell's Rock Ranger 5. Finish the Poison Spyder Jeep TJ
Those are the 5 main ones that I wnat to attempt to finish in the next year. But knowing how my life is I might only get one of them done and another one started. But will have to see how it goes.
I do like the idea of the CBP. I think we should try to do one in the spring.

Lets do this CBP!!!
Maybe a poll or something for subject material, post or poll for members wanting to join in???

We always ran a poll to decide on the final CBP topic as well. I would come up with 3 topics and put it to the forum. It was open to who ever wanted to join, no written commitment. Some suggestions may be a vehicle type, like pickup, or SUV, or Jeep. Perhaps a "class" of vehicle, like desert racing, rock crawling, or weekend warrior trail vehicle. You need enough flexibility in the topic to allow for individual tastes, but enough structure to make everyone feel like they are building something similiar as everyone else.

Ditto, a CBP would be fun... a good distraction. Maybe I will even talk my son (7 years old) into joining us. I had always wanted to do a Snap Together. Too bad they don't make a truck kit. John

I think the AMT 75 Chevy Blazer is a snap kit.

Hey all. Cool thread. I'd be thrilled just to finish this !@#$% Dodge!! It's still goin'. I wanna finish the Bronco I started a long time ago. Goin' with a 1/25th body instead. Got a Unimog I'd like to eventually get to. An '84 GMC PU...either another cruiser or do a cab-only TTC truck.
