I thought I would give an update to what I was working on... I am building two Baja Broncos at once: the Moss 79 Bronco and "Big Oly". It is taking VERY long as I am building them at the same time AND casting common parts. Both trucks share some parts (like engine and rear axle) I figure it makes sense to make a copy (cast it) of the part especially if that part will be used on another project in the future. I am kicking myself that I did not do this on my last racer as I am having to scratch-build a bunch of parts again that I built before. Another good thing is that I can help supply parts to my friends on my favorite website! For those that are not into Broncos, Big Oly was the first ground up, purpose-built vehicle for desert racing, sorta like Trophy Trucks today. It went on to win the '71 and '72 Baja 1000s in the hands of Parnelli Jones. The Moss Bronco has an unbelievable SCORE record winning championships from 2002-6 and 2008 in Class 3 (the Moss truck only missed 2007 by a few points... attended their daughter's wedding missing a race and points). Two historic Broncos. As will all my other WIPs, feel free to ask any questions about what I am/will be doing. John

Hey Coop, The wheels you want will be going out next week. I'm in the process of getting everything reorganized to where I know where everything is.

I have most of the art already done but need to test them... white on black might not work... we will see. Ignore my notes on the artwork, some are reminders to fix a logo or brainstorming which ones I might need, like in the interior and engine area. When I get ready to print them out I will announce it so I can add requests (like the Bronco Driver logo) to the sheet, The model only takes up about 1/2 of the page (or 2/3 if I include Oly's art). Both of these are very cool projects! Big Oly is just old skool kool! The Bill Stroppe Bronco's would be another cool project. What are you using for the EB body? I found a possible source for the Goodyear Wrangler RTII (military Humvee). This is a motorized H1 toy from Big Lots, hit the wall, backs-up, turns around. Scale is close to 1/25th but I haven't scaled the tires yet. Be sure to keep posting updates. Richard O.

Dang John, those are going to be some pretty sweet builds. I am glad to see you getting ready to build. Your do amazing things with decals man. Hopefully I can get in the swing of things once I get settled in AL.

Richard, the body was (will be) stolen from a toy bronco pretty easily found on eBay. It measures out to be almost exactly 1:24. BUT it is made from that rubberery plastic that nothing will stick to: glue, paint, etc. So, I am molding/casting the body panels I need. I have the grille, sides and hood ready to pour in resin. Since on the real racer nothing else from the Bronco is the same, I am not bothering with the other parts like tailgate. The rest of the parts for the truck will be borrowed from Mustang and Bronco kits. Surprisingly, I will only need the 9" rear end as the real truck was "only" 2 wheel drive! The cage will be a fun challenge. This one will probably take a year also! John

Waiting on photos from a friend of Oly so I have been concentrating on the Moss truck... I am finding in the research the truck is very similar to the other Anger Issues Bronco I just completed. Not sure if it due to the class rules or that is just how they do it, but this one should not take as long to build. And now that I am no longer learning the techniques (like building the shocks) this Bronco should also be MUCH cleaner than the last. On the the build... right now I am mostly cutting out un-needed stuff (rear floor, inner fenders, etc.), filling sink marks, adding trusses, and general clean up. Not sure how I am going to remove the chrome trim running down the sides of the model in the channel... the real truck has it removed. I guess the Dremel will get a workout after Cub Scouts. It took a surprisingly long time to modify the oil pan to look like the real truck... 2 hours! I'm just a little anal! The joke of a starter will need to be replaced. John

Both have 351 W. And both have carbs. Both have C6 trannys (though Oly started out with a C4). Thanks for watching. John

John just wait until you decide to tackle that molding down the sides of the 79. You are in for a really aggravating time. I started removing the moulding from the 79 F150 and found out it was much more difficult than originally thought. I used a rounded file and worked little by little until I was happy with the channel. I never pulled the dremel out because I was afraid to remove to much plastic. Good luck and if you come up with a better way to remove that molding, please let me know cause I still have the other side to finish, LOL.
