I built a paint booth about 4 years ago using an old single cabinet, a bath fan (which I carefully tested outside, spraying lacquer paint directly into the motor...didnt want an explosion in the house), and some glossy coated 1/4" paneling. The paint booth itself that sits on top of the cabinet is about 24" wide and deep, and probably 36" tall. The top has a cut out with plexiglass and a flourscent light hanging over it. The fan is located on the floor which really helps reduce dust particles. It has a short piece of dryer hose connected to a dryer vent on the outside of the basement. Been pretty pleased with and have no plans of changing it. I highly recommend building something to everyone. Keeps the house clean an not so stinky, and definately helps in keeping the quality of the paint job up.

I have a dumb question about the Scout CBP. What year is the Scout that supposed to be depicted by the Scout kit? Some kits say Scout II, some don't. John

The current kit uses the 1977-1979 grille. www.superscoutspecialists.com/store/t-faq.aspxThe box art on the original Ertl Scout shows the 1976 grille: However, the remaining versions show the current grille: 1978 1979 This got me a little curious since these were originally produced annually, did the 1976 version have the 1976 grille...YES:

Thanks Richard. Good information. While trying to find the answer my self I ran across this link at Model Cars magazine: www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20543It has some good tips about fixing the grille/hood "issue"... makes it look a lot more real, not so much like a toy. Someone there gave our Larry a big nod for his Scout buildup. John

Hey all. Would I be looked down on if I said I wasn't gonna make the March 1st deadline? Hey Larry, from the amount of progress I've seen posted lately, I don't think you'd be the only one (myself included). Let's extend it to, say April 15th??? (tax day )

Hey all. I posted earlier right between Jeff & Willie...don't know what happened to it. April 15th is OK with me if everyone else is good with it.

April 15 will be better for me. The two shows I am trying finish the Bronco for will be over. The date won't matter to my son. He finished his Scout this morning. We (he) changed his mind about making it camo and went with a stock truck. Again Tamiya, this time British Green. A little cleaning of fingerprints and it will pretty good. John

Small update to my Scout build...opened the grille, stripped the plating, & drilled out the molded-in headlights, added CJ-7 headlight buckets: added lenses from AMT 1970 Monte Carlo: scribed lower fender lines and reworked the hood & top of grille to more accurately replicate a 1:1 Scout...the kit has an inaccurate curvature: tons of work left to do, will it make the April 15th deadline

OK...I'm sure you all know by now that I will not make the April 15th deadline. As always, it's taking me longer than I expected to make what I need. Sorry............

It seems as though Cooper is the only one going to be finished LOL. I say we forget the deadline & get 'em done whenever they get done!
