All those sites did was confuse me more in terms of the direction I want to go . A Traveler might be cool though.

Question...I am leaning towards a 1980 Traveler...is the only difference between the Traveler and the regular scout the wheelbase and the back portion of the roof? From what I have found the Scout had a 100" WB and the Travler had a 118". Is there any difference in the rear overhang or just the length in front of the rear tires?

Mike, from the pics I've seen, the length is only between the wheels, the rear overhang looks the same...I guess we have no Scout experts here to answer for sure

I am in too but only after Christmas (asked Santa for the kit). Some early thoughts on my direction so nobody steals my idea ... 2010 is the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts. I am trying to come up with a cool way to build a Scouting Scout. Not sure yet. John

John, that is a great idea for a Scout. I had similiar, unintentional ideas as I am planning on doing a 1980 Scout. It was the last year and I believe the only year with the square headlights. I had thoughts of naming it "The Last Scout"...reminds me of the movie "The Last Boy Scout". With that being said, I am 99% sure I have my plans all drawn out to turn the Scout into a W.E.Rock Modified Stock competition vehicle. Cant wait to see what you turn out.

Hey guys i have a quick question. Is this going to be a "Pure Scout" build meaning can i swap in a SB Ford or SB Chevy motor or does it have to keep the IH motor? still not sure which direction im going but i do know it'll have new springs and tires full cage ETC just not sure if i want a hard core off road rig or a truck that can be used off road and do good at truck shows Willie

I am trying to come up with a cool way to build a Scouting Scout. Not sure yet. John Are you & your son building two separate Scouts, or working on one together, John? That would be really nice to build like that with your Dad, lucky boy, your son! Can't wait to build with my son...but he's only fifteen months old reminds me of the movie "The Last Boy Scout". With that being said, I am 99% sure I have my plans all drawn out to turn the Scout into a W.E.Rock Modified Stock competition vehicle. Cant wait to see what you turn out. Awesome movie Mike...gotta break that out & watch it one of these days...for about the tenth time over the years! ;D Hey guys i have a quick question. As long as the Scout kit is used as a basis. We're going to see all sorts of cool ideas!

Jeff, yes, Cooper and I will be building two different trucks. He has just hit the age that he can actually build without help from Daddy every second. John
