Hey all. I can see the front clip on the Monogram CJ-7 needs to be shortened for a CJ-5. Anyone know how much the tub would have to be shortened? Thanks and "YES", the Dodge is still a "go".

Hey Larry,
The front clip would only need to be shortened if building a pre-1972 CJ-5. AMC lengthened it for 1972 to accomodate the longer 258 six cylinder.
Why not use a 1/25 MPC/AMT CJ-5?
Wheelbases as follows...
1954-71 CJ-5...81" 1972-83 CJ-5...83.5" 1976-86 CJ-7...93.4"

Thanks Jeff. I have the Monogram '77 CJ-7 here, but all the pics I've checked look like the front clip is shorter on the 5. I'm just havin' a tough time with the tub.

The MPC/AMT Willys Jeep tub would be a closer match than the CJ-7. Not only is the body shorter, the entire vehicle was narrower. The biggest issue to convert the tubs would be the doorway as the CJ7 is more square while the CJ5 has a step in it to clear the fuel filler/rear wheel well. The WB measurements Jeff posted show that nearly 10" of length went into the tub/front passenger space.
I guess I just don't under stand the need to convert the Monogram/Revell when the MPC/AMT CJ5 exists.
