Some early thoughts on my direction so nobody steals my idea ... 2010 is the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts. I am trying to come up with a cool way to build a Scouting Scout. Not sure yet. John I can see it now, Olive green and/or tan with red trim and 'patches'. Possibly place the on the hood:

I think I have my plans for the build,. Color scheme will be blue with red/orange trim and possibly yellow roof or other pieces.
Think..."Bob the Builder", but it'll be "bobbed the Binder"!

Great start. What are you using for axles? Speaking of, where is a source for axles such as the dana 60? Resources for parts in the offroad world are pretty limited. Would love a bunch of D60's, some t-cases, etc.

Hey Willie...great start. I use the same glue and love it. They also make a gel which gives you some time to move stuff around before it sets.

Update on my progress...new cab structure's just about finished: Here's a mockup of cab & rough bed shell just for an idea of what she'll look like...

Definately some nice progress on this one. The cab work is very impressive...what back plate did you use that had the stamped indents?

Thanks guys.
Mike, the stamped back cab wall came from the AMT 1984 GMC, as well as several other parts for my build.
I almost forgot...if anyone needs a roof for their Scout, I've got the one from the second kit used in my build. Cut it to the body side so no material was lost. Shoot me a PM if you need it.

Very nice work Jeff, good clean building. I know you're not finnished yet, but I'd suggest rounding the top edge of the rear roof slightly as it looks too home-brew chopped. Maybe even continue the drip rail onto the rear as part of the body work/roofline molding. I like the length and wheelwell proportions of the bed. What's you plans for the body side molding?

Since Trailbound is doing a bobbed 'Binder I figured there shouldn't be two, so I bobbed mine a little bit further. I surgically removed the interior tub from the rear portion of the frame, sliced off the taillight/tailgate section and moved it forwards for a two-seater buggy. This will be about the ride height using the Aoshima/Satco Swampers, Revell-ogram wheels (for now). I also modified the front by chopping off the body below the front turn indicators. The wheel well arch will get radiused to the front corner This approximates the rear tube-work I'm planning, I'm still undecided about the amount of rear frame I'll leave. There are lots of improvements to be made with this kit, but only time will tell if I can get to them. I'll use the kit drivetrain, axles, with four-links and coil-overs, it may just be ridgid suspension though. Richard

Yeah Richard, I still have some detail work to do on the cab, but the basic structure is done. I'll look at the back of my 1:1 J20 for some ideas to make it more realistic. I still have to build the top door frames also.
Body side mouldings are coming off for ease of bodywork, then I may use some real aluminum to replace if it has the right look.
That's quite the "bob job" on yours, looks cool! Tube work will be neat, too.
