Started working on my CJ-7 Rockcrawler this past weekend. So far all I've got done is most of the body modifications. Cut the rear fenders out , cut the front fenders to look like the Willys flat fenders, and started on the rollcage. This weekend I plan on starting on the four link fornt and rear suspension and finish the half doors.

Here is an update. I got the rollcage finished along with the front fenders. IMG]http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g247/rubcon/101_6502.jpg[/IMG] The rear suspension is go but slow. I'm taking a leaf sprung Jeep and making it into a four link front and rear. Sofar all i got done is the axel height that I want to the Jeep to sit at and one of 40 mounting brackets that I got to make. Sofar thats all I got.

Need some help. Is the front four link setup just like the rear? The reason that I ask is cause the rear outer links are on the frame rail and I made a crossmember for the middle links. On the front would the outer links be further back than the inside ones? Also I need to get a set of Jakes Walker Evans wheels then it will start looking better.

To be honest with you, it really depends on the vehicle you are building and what your wheelbase is going to be. Most of my builds I have extended the front axle out anywhere from 2 - 7 scale inches. I have seen many different ways of doing it. I am most familiar with three link as that is what I have seen up close on several occasions. Most I have seen have had longer lower links and shorter uppers. I am no engineer so I can't really tell you the advatages or disadvantages. I hope this helps you out. Whenever you are ready for the Walkers you know how to get ahold of me.

Great looking crawler. I like the body mods especially the half-doors.

for help on the suspension...go online and look at some after market lift kits.. mostly youll see 3 up front because the engines in the way.... so the upper bars in the rear triangulate from the frame to the center of the axle.. keeps the axle from twisting and stops side to side movement. In the front, the engines in the way for that to work, so normally what youll see is a small link from the lower arm up to the top of the axle on the pumpkin side to stop axle twist, then a pah hard bar to stop side to side... Im a mechanic, so i build most of mine from my head, but i still look on some after market companies websites for tech data sometimes) hope it helps...Mopar1

i work at a Jeep dealership. So I'll set the front up like the stock TJ have. The lower links are further back on the frame and the uppers are mounted closer to the axel but are still on the frame. O the rear Jeeps there is a Track Bar in the rear to control side to side movement. i thank you for the advice and I'll post some pics on Monday of the complete rear end set up.

i understand the set up on a stock jeep...but the track bar limits articulation, so usually you do away with it in the rear on after market flexy lifts, and the upper bars just triangulate to the center of the axle...
